Sabres 6, Flyers 3
The Sabres’ powerplay scores three goals led by Drury and Briere, while enforcer Andrew Peters scores his first goal in 76 games in a 6-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. Just days after dealing Peter Forsberg to Nashville the Flyers showed some grit and hustle but proved no match for the speedy Sabres, who earned their 85th point to give them the top spot in the NHL. Rochester call-up Clarke Macarthur records his first NHL point assisting on Peters’ goal, while, Daniel Paille left in the third period with a broken finger adding to the long list of injured Sabres. Philadelphia forward R.J. Umberger fights Brian Campbell in the first period, avenging Campbell’s unbelievable open-ice hit on the Flyer in last year’s playoffs. The victory marks Buffalo’s seventh win in the last nine games, after suffering a three-game losing streak.
