Progression is what life is about.
Progression is what life is about.
Passion drives it. Integrity will sustain it.

Eleven months ago, I had endless early morning meetings, lunches and dinners with writers, venture capitalists, artists and friends, all in an attempt to bring together individuals and elements needed to make Traffic East a reality. I wanted to create something stimulating to the eye—new to the mind. This, by combining powerful visuals with good writing. I wanted to take restraints off the artists—the writers, the illustrators, and the designers—and give them the freedom to work their magic, and their passions—whether it be with a brush, a pen, a camera or a font. The result is before you.

I believe our debut issue is a good start to something that will evolve into a strong national publication—with local roots—something that Buffalo and Western New York will be proud of.

In keeping, three exceptional human beings are featured in our debut issue: John Rigas, JoAnn Falletta, and Harvey Breverman. All genuine. All true to their beliefs. These are the types of individuals we will bring to light—not only for their life's accomplishments, but for their sincere individuality.

Christina Abt’s feature profiles on Rigas and Falletta both give great looks into the lives and philosophies of these two important and interesting individuals. Our literary editor Bob Gatewood’s piece on Harvey Breverman paints us into the soul of the artist. "Go Like This," is our featured short story by writer Cassandra Gainer. (Fiction and poetry will be featured regularly.) JoAnn Falletta asks "Are We Listening?" in one of several essays she has written for us. Ken Ruof tells us about Jazz Singer Blossom Dearie. Thad Weitz takes us back in the first of our Classic Book Reviews. Daryl Crane takes us on a strange, humorous trip down south. Jen Lata-Rung leads us straight from the altar into her world of love and marriage within "City Limits." Beth’s pieces lead us everywhere. They are what Traffic is about. Movement. The issue is packed with much more.
